Before we start, I should have some photography related posts coming soon.  We are starting out the new year in spectacular fashion.  As you all are well aware, my wife  has been seeing Dr. Kevin Kroes at Irvine Chiropractic Center and Zerona Laser to help my wife melt the fat away in the stomach area.  Dr. Kroes refers to this area as the muffin top.  Tiffany completed the first half of her treatments last Friday and the results are amazing.  I don’t know of any way to get trim without either doing liposuction or working out really hard and burning those calories.  I don’t know how long it would normally take to achieve what the Zerona Laser has done for her in just two weeks.

Yesterday, Tiffany had her fifth treatment.  Five treatments down and seven more to go.  All is going well.  She is losing inches off her waist as planned.  Her pants are loose.  She is sticking to a healthier way to eating as close as possible.  This week she gets to cheat for one day within reason of course and eat some good food that she is not suppose to have normally.

You may be wondering why I have a picture of Tiffany and the Zerona Laser on her throat area and not one of her tummy.  The truth is that I didn’t want to show her tummy until she is complete with all twelve treatments.  There is also another reason.  Last Friday, she started treatments on her throat / facial area.  The Zerona Lipo-Laser also works wonders on non-major areas that need work.  What Tiffany is doing is melting the fat away from her throat.  She is getting rid of that excess fat.  Yes, the fat under her chin…you know the double chin!  No only does this gets rid of the double chin but also smooths her skin.  All I can tell you is that after only the first treatment last Friday, her co-workers and friends noticed a big improvement this past Monday.  So far, she has received three facial treatments.  The picture above is from last Friday when Tiffany is getting her first facial treatment.  I’m happy to say that Tiffany is extremely impressed with the results so far.

Changing one’s life for the better is always difficult.  The worst time is at the beginning of the new year.  Retraining one’s mind to change is hard when you are not up to it.  It is easier to try little and fail than try hard and succeed.  My wife Tiffany had her second treatment last night.  Going through this program has not been easy for her.  The changes she is making is what everyone inspires to do.  Tiffany is making a big effort to follow our new diet guidelines as much as possible while doing the Zerona Laser treatment with Irvine Chiropractic Center and Zerona Laser.  It has been a rough week up to this point, but as each day goes by, it is getting easier.

On to the good stuff…

After two sessions, we can both see good changes in her body.  Secondly, along with the dieting guidelines, Tiffany has lost some weight.  I won’t reveal how much exactly right now, but she is very happy with the weight loss.  This is only after two session!  The pants she put on this morning before work is two sizes smaller than what she was wearing on Monday.  That pair of pants is usually a little tight, but this morning it was a little loose.

As part of our 2010 New Year’s resolution, my wife and I have decided we need to change our lifestyle for the better.  What can we do that will help change our life around.  We can diet more.  We can try to find more time to exercise.  Does that really work?  No.  We’ve tried and failed numerous times.  Like most parents, we have an extremely busy schedule to keep.  With three kids, life is extremely busy and complicated.  We have to earn a living to provide the best we can.  Each kid has a different need.  That means we have very little time to exercise and have a bad eating habit like most people.  We both need to use some weight.  For me, I would love to lose 15-20 lbs.

She is now taking in addiction to Niacin Without Flush, Fiber Powder every night, Pure Green Power (twice a day), Total Enzymes (1 capsule with each meal), Total Probiotics (1-2 capsules per day, these need to be refrigerated after opening), Body Blast (once during mid morning snack).  She is also using a Glutathione topical cream and a Vitamin C cream which I will explain later.  The supplements that she is taken is given to each customer (except for the Vitamin C cream and Niacin Without Flush) who goes through either a 6 or 12-session Zerona Laser session with Irvine Chiropractic Center and Zerona Laser.

Tiffany started her first of twelve sessions yesterday.  Each session is 40 minutes long.  20 minutes on your front area that you are targeting and 20 minutes on the back area of your body.  Following the 40 minute session, she gets a 20 minutes massage. When I saw Tiffany again after she was complete with the first session, there was a big smile on her face.  She had lost a total of 2 inches!

A few weeks back, my little niece turned three.  She had a huge party with tons of gifts.  Here’s some pictures from the party.  Lily had a Disney themed cake with Minnie and Daisy on top.  For a three year old, she had enough presents to open over a whole year.

How long have you been an Orange County chiropractor?
Dr. Kroes wrote: I have been in private practice now for 16 years.  Its gone by very fast.  In that time my practice has grown from just me (and my wife running the front desk) in a small 2-room office, to now having 6 employees and 7-treatment rooms.

Did you ever see a chiropractor when you were younger?
Dr. Kroes wrote: I myself started seeing a chiropractor when I was a freshman going to UCSB.  I suffered through high school with severe headaches but just assumed that weekly headaches were “normal”.  My morning routine was eat breakfast and take excedrin.  I did this for 3-years and probably consumed hundreds of excedrin and tyenol pills.

Then one day my brother who was working as a grocery clerk at the time, took me with him to see his chiropractor.  He was dealing with a lot of back pain due to his job.  While I was there, the chiropractor did an exam on me and discovered that the top part of my neck was out-of-alignment. He explained that my headaches were related to my neck being misaligned and he recommended chiropractic adjustments to fix it.  I decided to try it and it really worked!

Within two months my headaches were almost completely gone. Within a couple more months, they were completely gone.  That was 24-years ago and to this day, I no longer get headaches!  That early experience changed my life.

At the time, I was a pre-med student working as a surgical orderly at the hospital with plans on getting a medical degree.  Instead, after graduating I applied to chiropractic school and like they say…’the rest is history’.

What type of patients do you have?  Do you see any other wedding photographers?
Dr. Kroes wrote: I have many patients who now see me for all types of problems.  Many of those suffer with chronic back pain due to being on their feet all day.  One of my patients, who is a wedding photographer, is often on his feet for over 12-hours at a time.  He gets very little rest and must carry his photography and video equipment around for hours at a time.

Because he is self-employed he cannot afford to pass up jobs even when his back is hurting.  What I recommended to him as I do with others, was regular chiropractic care to keep his back in alignment, massage therapy to help reduce the stress in his muscles, and specific exercises and stretches that he can do at home to help strengthen his back and core.

The philosophy of chiropractic care is to try and help the patient without the use of prescription drugs and pain pills.

Chiropractors try to get to the root cause of the patient’s problem and correct it. Too often, prescription drugs and pain-killers simply cover or “mask” the underlying problem.

The fact is, your spine requires regular maintenance care.  The absence of symptoms (pain) does not always equal good health.  The best way to illustrate this is by reviewing the statistics on heart attacks.  Research reveals that in approximately 33% of all heart attacks the first symptom of the attack is death!  Many conditions in the human body develop silently and without notice.  Conditions such as heart disease, arthritis, high blood pressure and high cholesterol can take years to develop before you notice any symptoms. So on your “outside” you feel fine, but on the “inside”, things are not as healthy as they seem.

As clients of a photographer, whether it would be a portrait photographer, an engagement photographer or wedding photographer, you need to understand the different types of images that are delivered to you at different stages of the delivery process. The three types of images are:

• SOOC
• Proof
• Final

The first type of image that your photographer may never let you see is the picture that comes straight-out-of-the-camera otherwise known as SOOC.  The SOOC images are untouched and they are not in their final form. The second type of image is the Proof.  Proof images are the ones that as a client of a wedding photographer, you will get to see and review.  You get to select from these images to go into your wedding album(s).  Proofs are often color corrected, have contrast boosted, cropped and/or sharpened.  Final images are those that are fully touched-up and are of higher quality.  These images may go into your wedding albums, signature album or blown up onto a canvas print.

The left image below is the SOOC image.  It came straight out of the camera with no corrections.  The image to the right of it is the Proof.  The SOOC image is darker than the proof.  Although it doesn’t look bad, it could use a little work.  The Proof was lightened, had contrast boosted and sharpened.

The image below is the Final version.  It is ready for professional printing.  This image took a bit of time to process.  Blemishes and dark circles were removed, skin was smoothen, the face and shoulder was lightened, flare from sun was enhanced, image was then converted to black and white, then whole image was sharpened and finally the eyes, nose and lips were enhanced.

I had a fun time at Legoland over the Labor Day weekend and hope you now have a better understanding of the different type of images available.
